With the snow but a distant reminder of our changeable climate, it was left to clear blue skies to suggest that Spring has nearly sprung!
The Ladies had a non-qualifying Stableford competition on 8th March. The Duchy course was shortened to holes six to eighteen, and given the ‘Beast from the East’/’Storm Emma’ weather conditions of the previous weekend, it was a miracle the course was open at all. Much credit should be given to the green staff for their efforts and hard work making the course playable.
The enjoyment of some early Spring sunshine was tempered somewhat by 25mph winds, which made the result of fairway shots and putting interesting, lucky or annoying, depending on where the player’s ball finished rolling. No birdies were scored at all.
28 ladies took on the challenging conditions, with Gail Proctor being the only player to score 26 points to play to par. Carol Jones took second place with 25 points. Third place was secured by Sandra Hares with 22 points.
