The Farrington Park Women’s Section AGM Salver in October marks the beginning of the new captain’s year.

The number competing for the trophy was slightly lower this year. One lucky group was drawn to the hot climate of Turkey for a wonderful golfing experience. However, 32 women did play in the autumnal unseasonably warm weather, but, of course, not Turkey’s temperatures.

Jacqui Gregory, Carol King, Isobel Panton, Sue Skyrme, June Symonds and Jackie Walker achieved 2 spots (holing out in 2 on a hole). The Division Two winner in this Qualifying Stableford Trophy Competition was Jan Mahoney with 25 points on count back, in second, also with 25 points, was Isobel Panton and third with 23 points was Jane Waller.

The top Division One players scored highly with the second to fifth places all scoring 35 points. They were only separated on count back. Corinne Durbin took second place, June Symonds third, Barbara Lawson fourth and Jackie Willcox fifth.

The winner of the AGM Salver for 2023 with 37 points was Maureen Charlton, who is continuing to have a successful golfing year. The outgoing captain Pauline Young presented Maureen with the AGM Salver prior to the Women’s Section AGM. Pauline handed over the reins to her Vice Captain, Jackie Willcox. In her captain’s report, Pauline praised the many women who had played a supportive part in the successful running of the Farrington Park Women’s Section. Pauline also thanked everyone for supporting her charity, Refuge – against Violence to Women and Children. An amazing £4,850 was raised for this popular charity.

Jackie, in her incoming captain’s address, thanked Pauline for doing such a great job for her year in office and presented Pauline with a monetary gift from the section, plus an engraved whiskey tumbler. Jackie announced that her charity for her year is Funding Neuro. Jane Ball
