An excellent entry of eighty one Seniors competed on a glorious sunny morning for the honour of being crowned gross and nett champions of 2023.

Defending gross champion Gary Auld started on the 10th tee and completed his first nine holes only two over gross.

Starting his second nine holes with a bogey on the 1st, things got worse with an unexpected eight on the second hole.

Gary is an experienced golfer however and got himself back on track and completed the remaining seven holes level gross, thereby successfully defending his title with a round of seventy nine.

Runner up to Gary was Phil Thompson with a gross eighty one who, despite carrying an injury, limped round the course and but for a poor finishing final three holes would have taken the title.

The nett champion is Steve Cockle who carded an impressive nett sixty four to win by a clear seven shots from Alan Howe. Steve birdied the par 3 5th hole, scoring several more pars which included the difficult 18th. Alan shot a nett seventy one and had a par on three of the four par 5 holes.
