Allen Cheney continued his impressive form with a comfortable win in the December medal competition in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club. His nett score of 59 saw him four shots clear of Graham Edgell and John Williams, with Edgell claiming second place on countback.
The Winter League is beginning to take shape after the qualifying four sections. In Group One, Williams finished top with Cheney in second place, Malcolm Tucker topped Group Two with Gerry Rowell second, Bill Lester headed Group Three followed by Brian Phelps, while Edgell qualified in first place in Group Four, with Nick Foxwell and Frank Reeves requiring a play off to decide the last quarter final place.
In the last eight, one match has already been played with Phelps beating Williams 3&2. In the other ties, Lester faces Cheney, Edgell meets Rowell and Tucker awaits the winner of Foxwell and Reeves.
