Members of the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club have been stunned by news of the sudden death of the popular Henry Thomas.
After a prolific cricket career, Henry joined the golf club, and the left-hander enjoyed plenty of success on the course. A perfect gentleman, he will be greatly missed at the club, and thoughts at this time go to his widow, Enid, and her family.
The annual Seniors’ Turkey Trot saw two of the club’s high-handicappers romp to victory. Alan Jones and Noel Chatfield combined to record a nett-49 in the Texas Scramble event. Five shots behind came Cyril Blacker and Bob Smith, with Jeff Hodder and Frank Reeves third with a nett-55.
Chatfield continued his good run in the November medal, but this time he had to be content with third place. Allen Cheney took the honours with a nett-64, Phil Moody was second with 65 and Chatfield came in with a nett-66.
