The lower handicappers came to the fore when the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club held its monthly medal in the form of a Christmas Scramble.
Instead of paying an entrance fee, each member brought a present, and it was Allen Cheney who had first pick of the goodies. For the second month in a row, the thirteen-handicapper came out on top, with a nett score of 65. Another thirteen-handicapper, Martyn Cuer, was just one shot behind, with retired farmer, Bill Lester, third on 67.
The Winter League is reaching the end of the group sections. Otherwise, there is no other competition until the New Year, when the Guerwyn Thomas Greensomes Strokeplay gets underway.
