February has proved to be a golden period for thirteen-handicapper, Alan White, in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club.

In just his second full season with the club, he notched up two wins and a second place in the three competitions played in the month.

Heavy rain forced the abandonment of the Gruesomes event at the first time of asking, but when it was rearranged, White paired up with Phil Moody to win the Broadway and Smith Cup with a nett-67. They beat second-placed John Bendle and Captain, Gerry Rowell, on countback, with Cyril Blacker and Brian Phelps third on 68.

White was then at it again, joining up with Treasurer, Geoff Hallett, to win the Bill Lester Texas Scramble with a nett-50. Allen Cheney and Mike Weeks were second, one shot behind, beating third-placed Pat Cray and Malcolm Tucker, who also scored a nett-51 on countback.

In the February medal, White had to settle for second place. He came in with a highly-creditable nett-60, but 28-handicapper, Alan Jones, took the honours with an excellent 56. John Waters was third with a nett-60, but was beaten by White on countback.
