There was a close finish to the Captain’s event in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club, but in the end, the 41 points accrued by Frank Reeves in the individual Stableford were enough to see him see off the other competitors.
Three players finished just one point behind, with countback needed to separate second-placed Paul Davies, third-placed Phil Moody and Seniors’ Secretary, Alan Jones. Also in the prizes were Allen Cheney and John Smart, who both came in with 39 points.
The John Appleton Trophy for over-75s saw success for two of Fosseway’s recent acquisitions. Brian Fear came in first with 42 points, followed by new Competition Secretary, Doug Lane, who scored 40.
Barry Dugmore (who was third with 39 points) was playing his last competitive game at Fosseway, before moving to Dulverton. Barry has been a popular member of the club and everyone wishes him well in his new home.
