A nett score of 47 was enough to see Martyn Cuer and his partner, Alan Vowell, lift the Charity Trophy in the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club.
Just one shot behind were Phil Moody and Secretary, Alan Jones, with Competition Secretary, Doug Lane and Paul Davies coming third with a score of 49.
Davies, who has featured regularly in recent events just missed out again in the Broadway and Smith Gruesomes competition. John Smart and Pat Cray were successful with a nett score of 67, just beating Davies and Alan White who finished with 68. Allen Cheney and John Waters also carded 68, but were beaten into third place on countback.
Davies does have a chance of a first place, however, after he and Captain, Gerry Rowell, beat Howard Nowell and Terry Button in the Semi-Final of the Guerwyn Thomas Trophy. In the Final they will meet Cyril Blacker and Brian Woodruff, but this contest will have to wait for a few weeks with Davies going into hospital for a knee operation.
