The Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club visited Folke Golf Club in Dorset for the first time and although it ended in a 6–1 reverse, it proved a very enjoyable encounter.
The two pairings to avoid defeat were Pat Cray and Frank Reeves, and Cyril Blacker and Bob Smith, who both achieved halves. Captain, John Appleton and Gerry Rowell were narrowly beaten 2&1, while Mike Ricketts and John Bendle and Pete Fitch and Brian Phelps lost 3&2. Graham Edgell and George Underwood finished 4&3 losers and Allen Cheney and Terry Button lost 7&6.
Two days later, a clear winner emerged in the Murphy’s Stableford event for the Mark Bridges Cup. Arthur Bellinger carded an outstanding 49 points to beat second placed Reg Curtis by eight points with Rowell a further point behind on forty.
