It just gets hotter and hotter. Is there really any need to travel abroad when we are all sweltering in temperatures of above 26c?

We now turn our

attention to The Open. Louis Oosthuizen had led the field from the start with a number of players hot on his heels. However, the 24-year-old American, Collin Morikawa, playing in his very first Open won his second major with a nerveless performance.

Results of Senior Texas Scramble played off the green tees: The team of Rick Clark, Peter Nash and Pierce O’Shea were triumphant with 57 points after an excellent round of 13 pars and three birdies. Runners-up on 58 points were Steve Ball, David Cross and Mel Field. In third spot, also on 58 points, were the trio of Rob Rogers, Roger Stone and Phil Toogood.

Senior golfer, Tony Thorp, has new golf clubs and on using them for the very first time achieved an Eagle on the first hole. Well done Tony – sounds like a good deal you had there!
