Match report: The Mendip B team played against Mendip Spring and with some excellent play from the Mendip team managed to win all matches! Well done to all the team members on a truely splendid result.

The ladies Alliance A team travelled to Bristol & Clifton on a very hot day against the Division 1 leaders. Despite the best efforts, with one player reaching the 17th and three reaching the 15th, Mendip lost the seven matches. In the last half hour of the match the dark skies opened and the rain started.

On a day when you could literally fry eggs on your car bonnet, in true "mad dogs and Englishmen" fashion, the intrepid Mendip Seniors visited Long Ashton. On a golf course that was in excellent condition, golf bags were packed full of water and sun block and the outcome was a very creditable 2-4 defeat. This sets up a fascinating return match, later in the summer, to decide the overall aggregate score.

Other News: Touring professional Liam Copp has had an eventful start to his professional career and his first season on the Clutch Development Tour.

A fine first round seven under-par at Aldwickbury Park gave him a taste of what it feels like to lead a professional tournament. Sadly, a poor second round meant Liam finished down the field but it proved a great learning experience.

Liam’s latest two events at Ogbourne Downs and Drayton Park have seen top-20 finishes as he bids to make the top-25 in the Order of Merit to enable him to progress to the next level.

Needless to say, all members were wishing him good luck in the regional qualifier for The Open at Minchinhampton.
