Throughout 2015, Farrington Park’s Golf Captains chose to support the dedicated and committed local fundraising group, ‘The Saltford and Keynsham Local Committee’, who raise funds all year round for Cancer Research UK.

A year of fundraising from the Men’s, Ladies’ and Seniors’ sections, included events such as quiz evenings, Captains’ Charity Day and an all day golf marathon! All of these efforts accumulated a grand total of £12,860, which was presented on behalf of all members to Cancer Research UK by last year’s Captains, Min Woodward and Paul Thomas.

Zoe Tainton, Cancer Research UK’s local Fundraising Manager for Bath, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Farrington Park chose to support us – we cannot thank them enough for their incredible efforts.”

Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding, so funds raised through supporters like Farrington Park are crucial to the work of over 4,000 doctors, nurses and scientists who work day and night to fight cancer.

Paul Thomas, last year’s Club Captain, thanked Fiona Smith, from the charity, for her support during the year and everyone at Farrington for their help in raising the fantastic total and on behalf of Min, Mike Henton (Seniors Captain) and himself, wished Cancer Research UK well.

The Saltford and Keynsham Local Committee are currently looking for new volunteers to join them in organising fun and exciting group events. Past events have included a James Bond Ball, Race Night and the Land’s End to John O’Groat’s cycling challenge.
