Andrew Boatswain, previous Captain of Wells Golf Club, Kathy Lane, the Ladies’ Captain and John North, the Seniors Captain for 2019, all agreed to support the Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year.

The Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today. Local activities include Memory Cafés in Wells and Street and a singing group in Wells. The Society produces a wide range of information for people with dementia, carers, family and friends.

Wells Golf Club members raised £9,530 for the Society – a considerable amount!

Andrew Boatswain spoke on behalf of the club: “We chose the Alzheimer’s Society as our charity because of the impact dementia has on so many people. We are very grateful to members for contributing.”
