The Seniors’ Section at Farrington Park is an extremely close-knit community, and was hit hard by the devastating news that senior golfer, Bill Sims, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

He suggested that his golfing possessions and various other items, along with donations from other member, be raffled and auctioned for charity. Senior Captain, Ray Guthrie, suggested to members that the proceeds go to Dorothy House Hospice, who provided palliative care to Bill.

The generosity of Farrington Park Seniors has been overwhelming, with a fantastic sum of over £800 being raised in little over three hours.

I am very sad to report that following a short illness, Bill passed away last Thursday, 14th February.

Following the regular Wednesday presentation, the Seniors’ AGM was held in the Park Suite, where incoming Captain, Rick Clark, announced that one of his two charities this year would be Dorothy House Hospice. We wish Rick an enjoyable twelve months and thank outgoing Captain, Ray Guthrie, for his inspired leadership during his tenure as Seniors’ Captain.
