Farrington Park’s Josh Hilleard has been selected for the England A Men’s Golf Squad. The twenty-year-old left hander, who plays off a handicap of plus four, was picked after a fabulous season on the 2015 British Amateur tournament circuit. His two wins and several top ten finishes were good enough to leave him the fourth best men’s amateur golfer in England, according to the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He also attended two assessment days at the National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa, in Lincolnshire.

Josh completed his GCSEs at Norton Hill before moving to the Writhlington School/Farrington Park Golf Academy to focus on his golfing skills. He has been a junior member at Farrington Park since the age of ten and has grown up under the watchful eye of Farrington Park full time golf coach, PGA pro, Terry Williams. His first England Squad training takes place at the end of November at Quinta Do Lago in Portugal in preparation for a full season in 2016.

Ladies

The Tree Trophy was the competition fought for on the Ladies Thursday morning, held on 12th November.

A large turnout of 42 ladies took to the course on a dull windy winter’s day. Most ladies struggled understandably with the changing heavy conditions and the scores recorded were very modest.

However, there was one lady who defied the conditions amassing forty points in this qualifying competition. Fiona Hassard, a new member of Farrington Park and new to golf, was three points clear of second place Hazel Guthrie. Third was Lin Papadopoulos, with 33 points, fourth was Lena Warren, with 32 points on countback, fifth was Sue Stilwell, also with 32 points on countback, sixth was

Angela Hudd, also with 32 points on countback and seventh was Maureen

Charlton, with thirty points on countback. Nearest the Pin went to Silver Division, Pauline Young, on the 8th hole, and in the Bronze Division, June Symonds, on the 5th hole. Two spots were won by Pauline Young, June Symonds and Sue Stilwell on the 5th hole and Maureen Goodsir on the 8th hole.

Seniors

A gloomy overcast day greeted a record number of Seniors for a Four Man Texas Scramble. The clouds eventually lifted and the players enjoyed the morning’s golf,

albeit a tad gusty and cool.
