Wells Golf Club’s Ladies won their first round in the national Mail on Sunday Classic competition.
They played at home versus Sherborne on a day with winds from the polar regions! Jill Bocquet led the team out with Gill Magrath, Ladies Captain, caddying and she played a steady game before finishing on the eighteenth.
Sandy Heath followed, keeping her calm against a strong opponent to halve the match. Next was Sue Hockey, a long hitter, who won her match comfortably. Sue Wells followed with another win after executing some excellent chips. Finally, Kim Lord played an opponent, having to give ten shots. Accompanied by caddy, Ian Burr, she too, won her match with the final overall team score of 3½ / 1½.
