THIRTY-NINE pairs played in Mendip Golf Club’s Pro Shop event which saw a win for Philip McKenny & Gary Prater with 61 points, one ahead of Paul Merrett & Justin Barrow and David Foshaw & Paul Cains.

The annual Ladies Captain versus Vice Captains match saw a win for the Vice Captains team 6-4. The Ladies Past Captains event was won by Ann Padley.

The Alliance B team were defeated by Wedmore 5-9, with wins for Fiona Hassard and Anita Butcher and a half from Chris Down.

The Ladies Challenge Cup was won by 12 year old Harper Howerd with a net 69 which sees a reduction in her handicap to 18.5. Chris Down won Div 2 with 71, and Anita Butcher Div 1 with 73.

Two Ladies KO events have been concluded. The Corson Cup was won by Debbie Godwin who beat Ladies Captain Louise Scott in the final while the Fanstone Cup saw a win for Victoria Ham who beat Lyn Jones in the final.

The Mixed team completed their season with a match against Kingsdown. The visitors brought a strong low handicap team and proved a little too strong for Mendip whose sole half point came from captain for the day Sue Forshaw, playing with husband David.

A total of 108 players competed in the Somerset County Autumn Stableford at Mendip. The winner after a 4 way tie was Mendip club chairman Alan Edwards with 39 points after count back from fellow Mendip member Tony Scott, and players from Long Sutton and Cricket St Thomas. The team event saw a win for Cricket St Thomas with 114 points, Mendip then filled the next 4 positions with Alan Edwards, Henry Banks, Tony Williams and Colin Davies in 2nd place with 110 and Mendip’s Chris White, Nick White, Baden Wilkinson and Kevin Keene 3rd with 109 after count back.
