TWENTY players competed in Mendip Golf Club’s Social Golf 4BBB Stableford with three pairs scoring 22 points.

The winners on countback of a good competition were Ros Withers and Colin Withers, from Fran Davies and Min Woodward and Davis and Susan Forshaw.

The Ladies Friendly team at Mendip entertained Stockwood Vale at home on Friday, 14th August. Both sides fielded reduced pairings because players had fallen by the wayside at the last minute - some from illness brought on by the record high temperatures.

There were familiar faces among both teams as "old" friends were re-acquainted. All the matches had a close finish but Mendip were the deserved winners by the margin of 3.5 to 0.5

The Ladies Alliance A team enjoyed a good victory at home to Saltford, winning 10-4 . Despite the morning drizzle the players finished in sunshine, particularly nice for Lucy Brooks who was celebrating her birthday, too.

It was "waterproofs on" and "umbrellas out" when The Mendip Seniors welcomed Knowle Seniors for another friendly return fixture - a far contrast to the heat of the past few weeks.

Thankfully the much-needed rain abated in the early stages of play and the course was certainly a bit more receptive as a result of it.

The match welcomed David Forshaw, making his debut for The Mendip Seniors, and a strong performance was required from the home team as Knowle Seniors arrived with a useful 4.5-2.5 lead from the first leg.

Once again "Godwin's Green & White Warriors" delivered on home soil and won 5.5-1.5 on the day, resulting in another great turnaround aggregate victory of 8-6 - a splendid outcome after a very strong performance by the Mendip golfers.
