Despite the continuing wet weather, Mendip has continued to be very busy and particularly during the Christmas to New Year period, they were inundated with visiting golfers.

Whilst being high on the hill can occasionally put Mendip Golf Club a little too near the low-lying cloud, this factor is more than made up for when there are prolonged wet spells. Hence visitor numbers increase as club golfers from elsewhere seek much drier playing conditions.

It is a strong tribute to the Greens Team that after the traumas of the 2017/2018 winter, when the greens themselves became extremely wet, that with the work they have since carried out, the greens today are playing fairly true and are standing up to the continuing rain and extra traffic of the many visitors.

The winning Ladies’ pairing were Phillipa Brown/Susy Rudkin with an amazing 49 points. Surely the Ladies’ Handicap Secretary must be sharpening her pencil?
