Wells played Burnham in the Seniors’ Scratch Knock Out on neutral territory at Wedmore. As always, Burnham proved tough opposition in this singles match play. Burnham won the match 3–2. Wells had wins from Glen Crocker and Mike Metcalfe.

In the Stragglers match, John Hockey and Craig McConnell had a great match, with a good win 3&2 and the final pairing of Bill McCollum and Bernhard Young fought well and triumphed 3&2. So a 3–2 score to Sherborne.

Wells Seniors travelled to Enmore Park and there were wins for Steve Rowse and Geoff Ead, Piers Dalby and Ken Ford, Graham Bingham and John Watson and Peter Leverick and Andrew Boatswain. Acting Captain Nick Carter and partner Rick Sheard secured a half to help Wells to a very well earned victory.

The Seniors played Long Sutton in the first round of the Somerset Seniors Bowl. Debutantes Jon Mackness and Nick Carter started the match off well with a win on the first extra hole.

Malcolm Terry andTim Harris won comfortably 3&1. Wells lost the match 3–2 after a good tussle. Will Thompson and Baden Wilkinson strolled to a 3&2 victory in the match against Filton. Pascal Norman and Nick Wilson won 3&2 and Wells drew the overall match 2.5.

In the Avalon League game with windy, but dry conditions, it was credit to the Wells team taking four games down the 18th to decide the matches. Unfortunately, the team lost 3 ½ –1 ½ with Mike Metcalfe and Malcolm Terry getting the only win 3&2. Andy Williams and Glen Crocker played in a tight match which ended all square.

The Ladies won their friendly at home against Bath by three games to two with the winning pairs being Barbara Harris and Kitty Usher, Della Luetchford and Tina Davies, Silvia Gibbon and Cath Levell.

The Karen Nicholls Foursomes Trophy was won by Sandy Heath and Cath Levell with gross 92. The nett prize went to the Ladies’ Captain, Tina Davies and her partner Kathy Lane with a nett 77.
