The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club experienced mixed fortunes in their latest series of social matches. A heavy 5–1 defeat at home to Whitley was followed by an encouraging 4–2 win at home to Westbury.
Martyn Cuer and Brian Phelps prevented a whitewash against Whitley, finishing their match one up. Captain Gerry Rowell and Bob Smith were beaten 5&4, and there were 6&4 reverses for Cyril Blacker and Denis White and John Bendle and Mike Ricketts. Graham Edgell and Howard Nowell lost 4&3, and Allen Cheney and Frank Reeves were defeated 3&2.
Skipper, Rowell, was much happier two days later when he combined with Ricketts to win the opening encounter with Westbury, 4&2. Geoff Hallett and Smith won their match 4&3, and Nowell and Cuer ended two up in their contest. Blacker and Cheney and Terry Button and Malcolm Tucker halved their matches, and the only defeat saw Bendle and Alan Jones lose 6&5.
