New Club Captain, Stuart Mann, got his year off to a flying start with his drive-in, which was not only fully subscribed, but had a waiting list.

Mann was delighted and even more so due to the number of new members who participated.

The four Captains for the year, Club Captain, Mann, Captain of the Ladies, Tina Davies, Captain of the Seniors, Glyn Hallett, and Captain of the Juniors, Tom Roberts, all drove well, which is always pleasing, as this is the symbolic start to the Captain’s year.

Although the weather was chilly, there was a warm glow and a chatty buzz in the clubhouse before and after the drive-in.

There was a Bowmaker competition for the 96 competitors, with George Davis in charge of the shotgun start as he has been for many years.

The competition winners, with a high scoring of 94 points were Rod Patch, Richard Birch, Gerald Tomkins and Graeme Dowden. Runners-up on countback with 89 points were Gary Nutt, Paul Hembury, Tim Taylor and Colin Payne. Third place, also with 89 points, were Simon Jackson, Pete Walker, Rob Coate and David Holland.

In total, there were six teams on 89 points.
