The Seniors’ Captain’s away day this year travelled to Cumberwell Park which drew praise from all 56 players.
The course was in great condition with true greens which made everyone feel at home and this was reflected in the 4BBB scores which were higher than expected. Amazingly, 14 of the 28 pairs scored 40 points or over. Excellent golf. There were hearty congratulations to the winners, Peter Leverick and David Gibbon, who top scored with 45 points. There were three pairs on 44, but second place went to Steve Rowse and Ken Ford on countback.
The Stragglers held their end of season Yellow Ball competition on a beautiful autumnal afternoon, with blue skies and no wind, with the course just a little damp from Saturday’s rain. The winners were Peter Bartholomew and Philip Spring, admirably led by their Captain, Terry Searle. They beat Andrew Boatswain, John Baker and their Captain, Steve Heath, by one point to win the coveted trophy.
In the Ladies’ Medal, which included the Pamela Manuel Trophy, Glynis Slater won Division One and Diane Ramsay triumphed in Division Two.
