Orchardleigh Golf Club Ladies’ section played the Sally Lock Trophy, which took place in two rounds on 8th and 15th August in perfect weather conditions.
After the first round, Anne Kirk was in the lead with 38 points, followed by Liz South with 36 and Michele Fairweather, Ann James, Jackie Pudney and Lorraine Collings with 34. In the second round, Liz South came in with the best score of 35 points, which was enough for her to win the trophy with a total of 71 points.
The second-best score in the second round was Liz Attenborough with 34, and third with 33 was Pat Jones. Anne Kirk’s second round brought in 31 points, which resulted in her coming second overall with a total of 69.
On 18th August, the Jefferies Trophy was played which is a mixed pairs’ Four Ball Better Ball. The eighteen pairs went out in fine weather with just a little drizzle at times, but this didn’t stop Liz and Terry South bringing in an impressive score of 44 points to win the trophy. Close behind with 42 were Ann and Steve James, and in third place with 40 were Anne and Steve Regler.
