In the Ladies’ section, the Sally Lock Trophy, a stableford competition played in two rounds, was won by Christine Arnold and runner-up was Christina Francis. The Val Stringer Cup took place in late September, having been rescheduled from March due to bad weather. The bowmaker competition was played in teams of three and was won by Anne Regler, Liz Folland and Carol Marquiss scoring 78 points. In second place, with 74 points, were Pat Jones, Di Norris and Michelle Fairweather and third, with 63 points were Christina Francis, Sonia Probert and Christine Arnold.
All the Ladies’ league matches have now been completed for this year. Orchardleigh had an an exciting end to the season in the Bristol and District Alliance league, by beating Bath’s B team eight points to six. These eight points were needed to stay in Division Four, whilst Bath B will go down to Division Five. Orchardleigh’s Somerset Interclub team were not so lucky with their matches and so will stay in Division Five for another year, despite high hopes for promotion.
