THE ladies played a qualifying stableford on a windy and blustery day and despite the weather some fine scoring was recorded.
Division One went to Carol King with 36 points, Division Two went to Lizzie Wood with 36 points and Division Three was won by Nicola Ogilvie with 34 points.
On the final Friday afternoon of May, The Mendip Seniors took on Sherborne in almost ideal golfing conditions. This was a return fixture, with Mendip trying to claw back a 2-4 deficit from the first match. However, this was just a little too much to ask as the match finished 3-3.
Unfortunately, the aggregate score against Sherborne was 5-7, the second aggregate defeat of the year, but there is still a lot more golf to be played this season. As is now becoming common place, the away team were more than complementary for the condition of the course and the home team hospitality and catering.
The ladies played their third ICL match of the season, at home against Wells. The rain held off until just after we finished playing. The result was a halved match, with both sides getting 3.5 points
The Alliance A team had a tough match away to Long Ashton.
With little experience of the course for several players, together with heavy rain, the challenge was always going to be difficult. Having beaten them at home 9-5 three weeks ago, they were keen to get revenge. With three matches going to the 17th and our winning match going to the 18th, the ladies put up a brave fight but went down 12-2.
Match number 15 of the year pitted The Mendip Seniors at home against one of their fiercest rivals, namely Burnham and Berrow, who brought a very strong team on what was a dry, but blustery, afternoon.
With the B&B team used to windy conditions, The Mendip put up an excellent performance and came out 4.5-1.5 winners. Next up is a trip to the seaside with the opponents being Worlebury.
The ladies Rogers Cup team travelled to Minehead to play Enmore Park. In a closely fought contest, Mendip were victorious and now play either Burnham and Berrow or Oake Manor at Tall Pines.
The Alliance B team played away to Thornbury Golf Club on Thursday in extremely windy conditions, luckily the rain stayed away, the result was The Mendip 10 points, Thornbury 4 points. A great result for an away match.
