A record 86 players entered last week’s

Farrington Senior 4 Ball Better Ball competition – sufficient proof, if proof were needed, that

Farrington Park is the place to be!

Recent weather conditions have barely improved. We are midway through the month of May and temperatures are well below average. However, it was a cool but mainly dry day that greeted the competitors.

Unbelievably, only four points separated the first

fourteen places with fierce competition for the right of a podium appearance.

In third place, with a score of 46 points, was the

pairing of Mike Bradbury and David Cross with seven pars in their round.

In second place were the reserve team of Pierce O’Shea and Ray Wilkinson, who recorded five pars and a birdie in their round of 47 points.

Last week’s winners after countback were Steve Brixey and the in form Mel Field, who conjured up seven pars and a birdie in their winning round of 47 points.

This week’s competition is a qualifying Stableford off the yellow tees. We should see a select few have handicap reductions, however things do not always go to plan –

you know who you are – and so do we! Rob Thain
