A fine entry of 137 men entered the Stephenson Cup. With the course now playing even longer after the recent rain, good scores were still hard to come by.

Division Three went to Will Dyer with 37 after countback from Mark George with Tony Logan third with 36. Division Two saw an excellent win for Paul Merrett, with 38 after countback from Steve Antell with Brian Rawlings third with 37. Division One was won by Tom Beck with 37 again after countback, with George Morgan, playing off 1, carding an excellent Gross Par score for his 37, with Scott Butland third with 36. However, an outstanding score of 42 points from Neville Harvey secured him the trophy.

The Mid Week Stableford saw an entry of 63 players and a win for Freddie Lenihan with 40 points. Tony Logan continued his good form with 39 points for second place, Clayton Merrett was third, with 38 after countback from Alan Edwards and William Dyer.

Thirty-two ladies competed for the Barbara Jose Trophy, a qualifying medal event. Division Three went to the returning from injury Ann Padley with a net 77, Nola Russell was second with 85 and Pauline Williams third with 88. Division Two went to Andrea Williams with a fine net 74 with Lyn Jones second with 78 and Anita Butcher third with 80. Division One was won by Jean Padfield, also with a fine 74, with Jenny Merrettt second with 76 and Marian Speed third with 79. However, Andrea wins the trophy after countback. The Ladies’ Weekend Stableford saw an excellent 41 points from young Connie Cox and a further drop in handicap.

The Ladies’ Alliance B Team visited Weston, but found the home team too strong. Elaine P. Richardson earned a half and Chris Olds recorded a good win.

Nearest the pin saw a win for Paul Jamieson, with Malcolm Dawkins second and Dean Lewer third.

The Mixed Friendly team had a very enjoyable battle with Bath with most matches going to the 18th. Bath just came out on top by 4½–3½. There were wins for Bryan Lewis/Penny Oliver, Louise and Antony Scott and Ann and Derek Padley, with Team Captain, Allison Rumming playing with husband Peter gaining a fighting half.

The Seniors held a belated Prize Giving event for the 2020 Trophy Winners delayed because of Covid. 2020 Seniors’ Captain, John Brooksbank, was delighted to announce that despite a difficult Covid affected season, all Seniors Trophy events took place, the Summer KO was completed, whilst obviously lower than normal, still a goodly number of friendly matches took place and he and then Seniors Captain Elect, Alan Edwards had played twenty challenge matches. In all, twelve trophies were presented with Ricki Kerry winning the Seniors’ Order of Merit and the Seniors’ Pairs. John Ellis, the other half of the pairs, also won the Seniors’ KO Trophy and Simon Brand won the Stan Frewin and Ollie Parfitt Trophies.

The Seniors’ Friendly Team entertained Saltford and ran out worthy winners 5½–1½, with wins for Steve Davis/

Norman Squire, Colin Davies/Malcolm Dawkins, Alan Snow/John Brooksbank, Nick Inskip/Martin Osborne and Antony Scott/Alan Edwards with Ian Hall/Rob Richardson gaining a half.
