Cyril Blacker was on top form when the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club held its November Medal Competition, winning the event by a clear four shots.

After the original event had been abandoned due to heavy rain, Blacker stormed to a gross score of 76 (nett 58). In second place was Mike Ricketts, with a nett 62, holding off the challenge of the consistent Bob Smith, who also had 62, but was beaten on countback.

There was a much closer finish to the December medal, with Pat Cray just holding off the challenge of the Timsbury duo of Howard Nowell and Malcolm Tucker. Cray finished with a nett sixty, while both Nowell and Tucker had nett 61s. Nowell took second place on countback.

The line-up for the Quarter-Finals of the Winter League is now close to being finalised. In Division One of the qualifiers, Brian Phelps and Ken Tucker are both through, while in Division Two, Terry Button and Allen Cheney have made the last eight.

Blacker has topped Division Three, but a play-off is required between Bob Smith and John Waters to see who joins him. In the final section, Cray is definitely through and will be accompanied by either Geoff Hallett or Jack Curtis.
