Rotamec sponsoredWells’ 4BBB Open competition which attracted a strong field of 170 competitors.

The event was played in glorious sunshine to the delight of everyone

involved.

With prizes for home and visitors’ teams alike, the competition was keenly contested by all with some excellent scores coming in.

Teams came from far and wide to enjoy the day and after the event, visitors enjoyed a meal from the bar and restaurant and a drink or two from the balconies to watch the players coming in. There were eleven prizes for visitors and members with scores ranging from 48 to 44 points.

The winning visitors’ score of 48 points came from Sam Hardwick and Darren Carter from The Bramshaw Golf Club.

The winning score for the Home team came from father and son combination of Steve and George Barrow-Stacey, with a commendable score of 47 points.

The Senior’s 4BBB Open was played on an ideal September day, warm and sunny with very little wind. The greens were not playing as fast as they looked and this foxed many players.

The scoring was high, particularly amongst the members, who were using their home advantage. Martin Barnes & Cliff Hopkins, who were early starters, held the clubhouse lead for most of the day only to be overtaken by the last pairing out.

An exceptional score of 48 points by Simon Jackson and Rob Coates, which included five birdies, put them in winning position.

The first visitor’s prize went to Martin Rudderham (New Forest) and Ade Heath (Romsey).

The Ladies’ Daphne Pring Trophy was won by Deborah Ramsell with

37 points. Janice White
