There are an abundance of fun competition formats to play in our
wonderful game of golf. Some very easy to comprehend, others not so.
The Tennessee Waltz for example, pretty straightforward. One player to score on the first hole, two players on the second and three to score on the third. Then you start all over again. So, Reverse Tennessee Waltz is three to score on the first hole...there you go you’ve got it! Easy.
A beautiful sunny morning greeted the seventy-two Senior golfers at Farrington, which after a horrid week of persistent rain was a welcome relief. The hard work carried out on the bottom five holes during the earlier part of the year has proved to be well worth the investment and effort. In earlier years there is no way that these five holes would have been playable.
The club goes from strength to strength with new twenty metre high fencing around the driving range and Toptracer in at least twelve bays.
Toptracer is able to track the entire flight of a golf ball and then add a trace graphic to the individual screens in the driving bays.
In third place with eighty-two points were Steve Brixey, David Cross and Don Perry. They had a front nine of forty points and back nine of forty-two points.
In second place with eighty-four points were Ham Ridene, Steve
Banfield and Jamie Goudie. They also had a front nine of forty points with forty-four on the back. They did, however, have the best hole of all the competitors where they scored eleven points on the fourth. One par and two birdies!
The winners, however, won by a country mile with a fantastic score of ninety-two points despite only scoring one point on the picturesque twelth hole they amassed forty-eight on the front and forty-four on the back. Well done to fairly new boy, Andy Smith, Kirk Bizley and Alan Elkington.
