Men
Following on from the difficult weather conditions encountered at Brean and an important 6 pts in a 3-2 defeat, the Avalon team welcomed Isle of Wedmore to commence a run of home fixtures. Tom Snelling and Danny Farnen led the team out and at 4 up after 9, had control of the match. A run of halved holes saw them dormy 4, but after losing the next 3 holes, they managed to win the last to secure the points. Jamie Rawlings partnered Nick Russell, but with the ball refusing to drop, they lost 5&4.
Mark and Guy Adams were next out and with Mark firing on all cylinders, they managed a 2up win. Lee Bruton was paired with late replacement, Junior Captain Alex Bendall, they were soon in control and confirmed the team win by a 4&3 margin.
The final game saw Paul Thomas partnering Nick Poore in a tight match, going 1 down to a birdie on the 9th. They then lost 11 although a shot played by Paul with his ball lodged halfway up a tree almost got the half. A birdie on 12 saw them close the gap and a solid par on 16 evened things up. With 2 putts to secure the win, Nick holed a 12 foot putt to win the match and secure a fine 4-1 home team win and another 10 pts.
