WELLS Golf Club have held a 4-Ball Texas Scramble Open on a hot sunny day. The course was fiery and was running for miles. The greens were excellent and holding, which was a bonus.

The first eight were home teams and there were five eagles - on the 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th (2).

The winning team Michael Chard, Michael Francis, Josh Higgs & Ethan Jones enjoyed two eagles (8th,14th) and scored a magnificent gross score of 53, nett 49, winning on countback. Their only pars were 3rd, 5th & 7th.

Second home team were Jon Mackness, Cath Level (Mendip Spring), Jackie Owen & Neil Owen with gross 65, nett 49 on countback.

Third were Antony Ford, Thomas Greenman, Harry Lilley & Danny Woodbury with gross 58, nett 51.

Fourth were David Brain, Frank Budds, Mike Rogers & Shaver Sims, gross 67, nett 52 C/B

The winning visitors team were Stephen Denning, Mike Lock, Derek Platten & Carl Sheehan, Cricket St Thomas, gross 65, nett 52.
