A good number of players turned out for the annual event organised by Tim Lunnon and Vic Burgoyne, called the Lundy Island Classic.
There had been a draw for partners, with a two-tee start so that everyone could enjoy a convivial afternoon afterwards. The top four pairs were separated by only one shot, and on countback with 44 points were Erica Klim and Rob Swift. Second place went to Alan Thompson and Grant Rogers. A raffle, Heads and Tails and Fines followed, with the money raised going towards the club refurbishment.
The winter knockout competitions at Wells Golf Club are now in full swing. In the Ladies’ Winter Foursomes, Jannette Ambrosini and Jane Hilborne are through to the second round after a close contest with Silvia Gibbon and Katrina Foote.
In the Men’s Winter Foursomes, Gary Nutt and Tim Taylor, after some excellent putting, are through to the Semi-Finals, beating D. Norman and Guy Timson. Also through following carefully-judged chips are Phil Spring and Richard Sheard, just beating Paul Hole and Ian Gleave.
