A good crowd gathered to hear Andy Williams announce the Captains for the year before their drive-in.
Geoff Spinks, Club Captain, sent the ball straight and true; Mike Gee, Seniors’ Captain, executed a well-paced shot onto the fairway.
Sandy Heath, representing the ladies after her success last year in the England Golf Medal, sent her drive down the fairway and Abby Gray, stepping in for Junior Captain, Freddy Lovell, who had sustained an injury, sent her drive the furthest of all.
The shotgun start set off with a bang and all the teams enjoyed a dry day of golf. Jan Hayward was on duty in the Green Room, preparing hot drinks for grateful golfers.
Overall winnders of the bowmaker competition were; Nick Carter, Cath Levell, Dean Hamilton and Nick Wilson. Winners of nearest the Captains’ drives were Pascal Norman, Peter Bartholomew and Richard Birch.
