Wells Professionals, Jack Heginbotham and James Keitch, led a golf coaching holiday at Islantilla Golf Resort in Spain for twenty members recently.
27 holes offered many opportunities for driving over water, across ravines and along narrow, tree-lined fairways. The golfers were divided into two teams, and a variety of formats were played day by day after a warm-up hour on the driving range.
Heginbotham and Keitch worked hard all week, helping everyone to improve and giving clinics on various techniques, from bunkers to putting, from driving to chipping. With much camaraderie on and off the golf course, the holiday was voted a great success by all who attended.
The final score of the week put Keitch’s team just ahead after some excellent matchplay on the final day, but the week will be remembered for Malcolm Terry and Mike Metcalfe driving a par four green in one; John Moxon for driving over the lake on the second, Jill Bocquet for parring the longest par four, John Collings for his putting technique, and Jon Mackness for his matchplay.
