Good form at Wells Golf Club

In the Avalon League, the Wells Men’s team continued their good form by beating Long Sutton 3½ - 1½.

The Stragglers beat Cricket St Thomas 3-2 with the away match coming up in two weeks.

The Men’s Senior team continued their 100% home record this season with a 4½ - 2½ win over Shirehampton.

Wells Ladies played their May medal competition last Tuesday. The winner was Katrina Foote with a net 64 with Sylvia Gibbon second and Kathy lane third.

Wells Ladies held a “chip and chat” evening for ladies new to golf, as part of their ‘Women in Golf’ initiative, the aim of which is to encourage girls and women to take up the game. Thank you to the helpers who guided them around the course.

The Men’s Seniors May Medal saw Trev Jones score an excellent nett 66, which included two Two’s, to win DivisionTwo2. Second was Brian Cowley (nett 68) and third, Len Sweales (nett 70). Division One was won by Mike Magrath (nett 68), Mike Metcalfe (nett 69) was second and Terry Ellaway third with nett 70.

The Irwin Mixed Greensomes took place on Sunday with Katrian Foote and Bill McCollum taking the spoils – Kathy Lane and Mike McKay were second and Jan and Dave Hayward third.

Reece Tucker won the Junior Competition with a great score of 43 points with Lewis Wickham second and Rhodri McMenamin third.
