MENDIP Hockey Club’s dwindling membership will be playing for Bath Hockey Club this season.

A former Mendip club spokesperson says: “At Mendip’s annual meeting in May, the committee formerly presented members with a proposal regarding the future of Mendip Hockey Club.

“Following careful consideration of the club’s long-term sustainability and the challenges facing the club, members were asked to vote between two options: Pursue an adsorption merger with City of Bath; or Dissolve Mendip HC.

“Following discussion at the meeting, members voted unanimously in favour of proceeding with the absorption merger with City of Bath HC, with the view that this option provided the opportunity to preserve hockey opportunities for the majority of members while also maintaining elements of the club’s history and legacy.

“In accordance with the constitution, any monies and equipment remaining within the club at the point of dissolution, shall be transferred to City of Bath HC.”
