The Mendip hills will be the country ‘Cheltenham’ on Sunday, when the Mendip Farmers’ Hunt Point to Point takes place at 11 a.m.
The day starts with a donkey derby, followed by a donkey scurry. The first of the proper races starts at 1 p.m. for the racing enthusiasts. Mendip is renowned as a good course and attracts quality and plentiful entries from across the region. Plenty for race-goers to enjoy, all of which will be shown on the big screen. The last races of the day are the pony races which are ridden by children.
This is a day when country and city meet, with plenty of activities away from the racing for all. Some of the picnics which spill from cars would give any at Royal Ascot a run for their money. Children’s entertainment, many food outlets, retail therapy and bookmakers if needed.
The green fields have morphed over the last few weeks into a real racecourse, it is a good walk to go around the track.
