Every year the Ladies' section organise an “Away Day” and this year, Rushmore was chosen because it is an interesting and challenging course. They were very lucky with the weather as although there were showers forecast, they escaped almost all of them and the sun shone.

The ladies went out in teams of three and the format for the day was a “Waltz” where scores are calculated by taking the team's best score on the first hole, the best two scores on the second hole and all three scores on the third and so on. The best team score for the day was seventy six points which was won by the Lady Captain's team, Anne Carpenter, Lorraine Collings and Christine Arnold.

On the away day there is always a trophy given for the best silver individual score which went to Sue Marshall, who had thirty two points (winning on countback) and the trophy for the best individual score in the bronze section was won by a new member Helen Marshall with thirty seven points. There was nearest the pin which was won by Pat Jones.

After a two course meal in the clubhouse, Lorraine Collings thanked the Lady Captain for organising such an enjoyable day.

The Barwell Masters, which was played at Orchardleigh on Saturday, 24th May was won this year by Sarah Hynds.
