Midsomer Norton travelled to league flyers, Weston-super-Mare on Saturday and were shown why the coastal side are top of the league.

Weston were unstoppable with quick ball and scored at will when they had it. On the rare occasion the Mendip side managed to slow the home side’s ball down, they looked equal, but it was all too easy once the home side got speed back into the game.

There were two occasions during the match where Norton put Weston under pressure, and Prop, Matthew Edgell, broke over the whitewash on both occasions.

The visitors shouldn’t be too concerned with the result, as Weston and the Norton Down side are fighting for different goals this season, with Weston pushing hard to gain promotion, whereas Norton are fighting in the lower section of the league to stay in the highest level of rugby the club has ever played in.

One bonus was that there were no serious injuries this week, to add to the club’s large list of sidelined players.

This Saturday Norton stay on the road, with a trip to Gloucester to take on Matson.
