Norton travelled to Weston for a top-of-the-table clash against Hornets 3rds. The opening exchanges saw both teams unable to break through each other’s well organised and strong defences.

Territory was key, and Norton were able to force their opponents into their own half. Denning was able to score from a scrum close to the line and Rideout converted. Norton looked like taking a 7–0 lead into half-time, until Hornets’ 6’5” centre steamrollered the Knight brothers to score before the break, making it 7–7.

In the second half, Norton increased their intensity.

Anderson lead the way with exemplary work rate in the loose, and Holmwood’s strong running was a constant threat from full back. Norton took the lead from a good team move and then an inspired long-range interception try; both scored by dangerous diminutive dynamic hooker, Luis Davila. The game looked safe and Norton were dominant until two unfortunate late scores meant that Hornets were somehow able to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

Norton now look forward to hosting league leaders, Bath Edwardians, this Saturday in a match-up that promises to be a close game.
