The Seconds ended the season on a high with an eleven-try victory over Yatton in the sweltering heat, in front of their supporters at Norton Down.

Norton started brightly, and took the lead when Murphy and Moss scored early tries with typically powerful running. Yatton pulled some points back, just before a much-needed drinks break, mid-way through the half, but a refreshed Lewis Dyer added a third after cutting a superb line to slice through the defence.

The bonus was secured before half-time when Alex Davis scored after a fine break from Andrew Davis. However, a couple of lapses in concentration saw the away side score twice again before half-time, ensuring there was still work to do in the second half.

Despite their best efforts, the away side began to tire, and after the break, Norton made sure of the victory. Lewis Dyer decided it was easier to crash through than around the defence to score his second of the match, before Andrew Davis, Silk and Matthew’s strong charges got them on the scoresheet.

Although Yatton pulled more points back in the second half, the game was over by the time Kemar ‘Active Barrier’ Stewart danced his way over the whitewash. The icing on the cake came from returning winger, Sam Church, who, despite his protests at having to play in the back row, marked his return to action with two scores.

The result leaves Norton in a commendable fourth place. With a young side, there is plenty to build on ahead of next year when they will hope to push for promotion.
