The Thirds put in a battling performance on Saturday and despite the loss, scored four tries to earn a bonus point for their efforts.

The first half was an evenly-contested affair, with both sides scoring two tries each. The first came for Norton after an excellent rolling maul from the pack. Scrum half, Ian Tiley, darted down the blind side, dummied the winger and then fed centre, Sam Hughes, who beat the full back to power over in the corner.

Tor hit back when they pounced on a loose ball in midfield to score from distance, and then doubled their lead when they returned a poor Norton clearance kick.

Norton fought their way back into the game when the ball was worked wide to Mitch Rose, who dummied his way over from fifteen metres out.

The second half saw Norton have plenty of possession and field territory, but Tor were quick to seize on any errors. This allowed them to score a number of length of the field tries with their superior pace.

In the tight, Norton were able to compete and this allowed flanker, Alex Mitchard, to capitalise after a prolonged period of pressure close to the Tor line. Fly half, Andrew Best, added the conversion.

Tor increased their lead before Norton grabbed their bonus point in the dying moments. A good break through the midfield saw Norton stopped just short, but winger, Jonny Brook, showed his strength to drive over the line and secure the fourth try.
