Norton narrowly overcame a hefty Barbarians team that belied their lowly league position with a committed display.

Although Norton showed glimpses of their early season form, they were unable to capitalise from the chances created until Dan Moon broke the staunch Barbarian defence to score from close range. Dyer converted, but then the Barbarians scored two unanswered tries before half-time to take a 12–7 lead.

Shortly after the break, a penalty increased the lead for the visitors. It was at this point that Norton decided to up their game, and take advantage of the excellent lineout ball and strong running. First Holmwood and then Anderson touched down, before Blackmore made sure of the try bonus point with ten minutes to go. Dyer missed the rest of the kicks.
