Writhlington Year 10 student, Finlay Scott and Year 11 student, Katie Duffy, have had a fantastic term, triumphantly qualifying for the National Pistol Championships in Cardiff in January.
The students went to Leweston School in Dorset for the Southern Schools 10m Air Pistol Championships, competing against hundreds of young people from fifty schools from London, South Wales and the South West.
The final was a knock out competition between the top eight scorers from the qualification round. Finlay qualified with the top score of the Intermediates and went on to come second and claim the silver medal. Katie qualified seventh and came fifth overall in the senior final with just a five point difference between her and the top scorer.
Year 10 student, Finlay Scott, commented: “It was a really great experience competing for the Intermediate Individual team and I am so pleased I have made it through to the Championships in Cardiff. I have been training since I was eight, we train twice a week for Tetrathlon, working on our swimming, running and shooting. It is really hard work, but I love it.”
