A LOCAL grassroots rugby club will get the opportunity to travel to premiership team Bath Rugby’s training base for a once in a lifetime training day thanks to Thatchers Cider.

The winning team will head to Farleigh House for a training session on the facilities used by international stars such as Sam Underhill and Finn Russell.

The competition celebrates the longstanding partnership between family cider maker, Thatchers, and the premiership rugby club. Thatchers has committed its support to the club for the 2023/24 rugby season, marking the twelfth year of partnership between the Blue, Black and White and Thatchers.

Like Bath Rugby, Thatchers Cider, with its 120-year history and four generations of cider makers, is part of Somerset’s much-loved heritage. Thatchers is ingrained in the club’s matchday experience and the renewed partnership will see an increase in the brand’s presence at the Recreation Ground.

The deal will see the continuation of the much-loved Thatchers Stand, as well as the Thatchers logo appearing on the back of the match jerseys.

Martin Thatcher, fourth generation cider maker, Thatchers Cider, said; “As sponsors of Bath Rugby we know how much the game means to communities and grassroots clubs in the Somerset area. Celebrating our long-standing partnership with a once in a lifetime training day reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting and developing the communities around us.

“Being partners of Bath Rugby is a privilege; we share our values, roots and commitment to put Somerset on a national and international stage. When two stalwarts come together great things can happen; like Thatchers and Bath Rugby, or Apple and Blackcurrant - our latest fruit cider and a perfect pitch-side pint.”

The training day will see local amateur players put through their paces by some of Bath Rugby’s best teammates and coaches.

James Bibby, commercial Director at Bath Rugby club, said: “Bath Rugby and Thatchers both have national reach, but our roots are here in Somerset.

“We’re proud to support Thatchers in becoming one of the UK’s leading cider brands and are thrilled to continue the relationship with a partner with whom we share many values. Thatchers play a significant role in the club and nowhere is that more evident than at the Rec on a matchday, where many of our supporters love watching the rugby with a great pint of cider.”

All you have to do to win this exceptional prize is head to the Thatchers Cider webpage and tell them why you think you should win. Entrants must be over 18.
