On a day when most local football was postponed because of waterlogged pitches, the game between Westfield Reserves and Stoke was played on the superb surface at the Centurion Hotel and it proved to be a great game and a credit to the Mid-Somerset League.

It was end-to-end from the first minute to the last, with Stoke going ahead midway through the first half through Ross Tucker, then increasing their lead with the lively Ossian Gould running away from the home defence and smashing the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post.

Westfield had more of the game in the second half, with the visitors threatening on every break away. On seventy minutes, the home team was given a penalty that was slotted home by James Hucker.

This goal set up a frantic last fifteen minutes. Westfield went close many times, then, as it looked as though Stoke had made it safe, Joe Martin ran away from the home defence, beating the goalkeeper only to see his shot hit the bottom of the post. Stoke stay in second place with this 2–1 win, behind Coleford who did not play. Interhound went into third place with a 5–2 win at home against Mells. Hound's Steve Docherty scored four times, with Shaun Corbin getting the other goal.

In the First Division, Radstock A kept their winning run going, beating bottom club, Camerton, away, 5–1, with goals coming from Ash Boucher (2), Josh Lines (2) and Jamie Jackson. Temple Cloud move to the top of the table with a hard fought 3–2 home win against Frome Collegians. There was only one game in Division Two. Frome Town Sports Reserves recorded their second win of the season at home against Tunley Reserves, 4–2.

In the Third Division, Victoria (Street) keep their unbeaten league run going, with a tough win away against Saltford Reserves, 2–1. Goalscorers were Robby Turner and John Carpenter. Somer Valley move into third place with a home 4–2 win against Chilcompton United.

In the Cup, Chew Reserves had a good 3–1 win away to Mells Reserves. Goals were scored by James Hatrey, Nial Hodge and Lee Boneface and Glastonbury beat Midsomer Norton, 4–1, to progress to the next round.

All credit must go to all the home teams that got their games played when there was so many in all junior and senior leagues that fell to the wet weather.
