Timsbury Athletic Football Club and Timsbury Cricket Club have both been given a massive boost with the refurbishment of the changing rooms at their headquarters at the Conygre Hall. It was made possible thanks to the support of District Councillor, Doug Deacon (Independent), who used his members' initiative allowance to give

financial assistance to the venture. In addition, the paved area outside the changing rooms has been upgraded.

Mike Passingham, the Chairman of Timsbury Athletic, said: "Once more, sport in Timsbury is indebted to the support of Councillor Doug Deacon. The refurbishment of the Conygre Hall changing rooms and smartening up of the external areas at the Recreation field is of massive benefit to both the senior Timsbury Athletic football teams and cricketers, as well as their youth sides.

"Cllr Deacon's Ward Councillors' Initiative Fund from B&NES of £4,000 went some way to financing the works and, along with the balance from the Conygre Trust, has regenerated this first class changing facility. Both the football and cricket clubs would like to thank Councillor Deacon and the Conygre Trust for their support."

Cllr Deacon said: "Both the football and cricket clubs make a big contribution to village life and I was only too happy to help."
